Thank You - Greg and Bethany
We, the Salvation Army of La Porte, Indiana, can’t say “Thank You” enough to Envoys Greg and Bethany Irwin for their service to God, to this community, and to the Salvation Army of La Porte, Indiana, these past three years. They are now stationed in Petoskey, Michigan, after Sunday, June 21, 2015, so the good news, for them, is that they will be closer to their family after the move.
Because of their investment in time, talent, energy; and a lot of love, this corps has been given a new life. This is manifesting itself already in a new advisory board shown below and in increased church attendance as well as in the number of new soldiers, adherents, and visitors, also shown.
The fruit of this ministry is also shown in new programs such as the Back Pack Food for Kids and Senior Life programs. Picture below shows a table of Soldiers at the REAL services lunch who were able to be there and for the Wednesday afternoon Bible study thanks to help of La Porte transit and the Senior Life ministry.
Our daily support programs such as the Food Pantry and Social Services have increased in quantity and quality. Under their leadership, the Corps Community Center building now provides office space for 1st Steps support program, a combined effort of numerous churches, as well as other groups, in their seasons, such as Energy Assistance and VITA tax preparation.
The REAL Services Senior lunch program continues to meet the needs of seniors for meals as well as socialization. We can’t say Thank You enough also to the increased involvement with other churches and social groups in significant ways such as the Community Suppers served four nights per week and the Thanksgiving dinner which is a partnership with the First Church of God. Shown below are pictures from the “Friday Night Live” monthly dinner, another innovation of the Irwin’s, which is hosted by Crossroads Church.
Greg and Bethany have helped us, the Salvation Army of La Porte, to learn to say “Thank You” to La Porte and all those who support us. But, most importantly, they have helped us to do all of this without taking our eyes off of Jesus and the cross which he bore for us. But, to everything there is a season so now… May the LORD bless you, and keep you; The LORD make His face shine on you and be gracious to you; The LORD lift up His countenance on you, And give you peace. Thank You, Amen.
